    Learned sumpthin'

A while back as my Olds was nearing the halfway mark in it's build out, I got an invite to display it at the Tacoma Dome car show held yearly in the Spring.
It was decided to display it in bare metal but with the chrome bumpers and a few other pieces of trim installed.
It would be displayed as a "work in progress". Those guys who were builders really found it a helpful advertisement for their Hot Rod business.
In my case, the car was situated between the designer (Jason Rushforth) and the builder, (Richardson Custom)

Well the second day of the show, I stopped by the booth to talk to the builder a bit but he was already speaking with a fellow and his Wife.
She wandered over to the car and just stood there looking at it with her forhead wrinkled up and her hand over her mouth.

I wandered up next to her and stood there a moment and casually commented,

    "Well, what do you think"?

She gives me this apologetic look and says...."Gee they didn't do a very good job on the finish, did they!".

I don't know why it cracked me up, but I just couldn't help it and I don't think she ever figured out why I was so rude when I burst out laughing.

I think that it is beautiful. Can't wait until it is finished to see the final results. I would have burst out laughing also.

Well ... ya got to know what you’re looking at to appreciate what you see .

And I think it looks great from what I see ,to do a job well enough
to display at that point in the build
says a lot for the builder.

Great car and a great story Dogtag!!!! Gotta love them big Olds and Pontiacs!!!!! The Caddies were the rage, but IMO Olds and Pontiac had the lead in styling! As a teenager I had a '57 with the J2 engine, that is one I which I would have never let get away!!!!!!
