    Daytona 500 - 34 days and counting

It must be getting near to race season with the Daytona 500 in 34 days. I wonder what Junior will do with Hendricks? Will Jarrett be a factor ever again? Is the whiner going to make a run at it in the 24? Will Johnnson be as hot as last year? Who is the 'bright young star' of the future? How about the jugeared pair? How many wrecks will Nemechek or Waltrip cause this season? Montoya, Franchitti, Hornish, Allmendinger, Villeneuve - open wheelers all - will they get better or take their big bucks and race into oblivion? Smoke - another anger management course or will he remain cool (reasonably, anyhow)?

Geez, for a Ford guy you missed some of the big questions there. Will Doug Yates be able to survive at all. Wood bros. still struggling with sponsorship and running two family drivers. Will Kenseth be as good with a new crew chief? Is "The Biff" at the end of his rope at Roush? Jamie who?

As for the questions you did pose, Smoke might need more training if the Toyota stuff doesn't bloom (unlikely). As for Junior, I don't expect much, it's a new team despite having his cousin/crew chief. Great equipment, but team work still matters. Junior Nation will end up crying the blues, probably right after Daytona, that the Vanilla Bros. are getting all the good stuff and Junior is getting screwed (just what a smart businessman like Hendricks would do right? ) As for your good buddy Kyle Busch, he'll be so intent on proving he can win in a Toyota he'll be out causing havoc all over the place. Not sure there're anymore "enforcers" amongst the driver ranks who would take him out behind the garage and give him some knuckle therapy.

Good questions Bob. Here's my views.......

I hope toyota goes winless agian.

If Junior don't win, his fans will riot and throw Gordon's fans on the track instead of beer cans....LOL!

Yates teams will still strugle, if they last, it will take several years for them to get back in the running.

I hope the open wheelers have the same fate as toyota.

The old smoke will make a return as major fustration appears as a result of toyota not being as good for him as GM was.

Kenseth will continue to carry Roush and win Daytona with the new crew chief.

I don't know where you get that Gordons a whiner, I hear a heck of lot of others whining all the time!
What is it that you hear that he whines about???
Or is it that he wins, or has more points, and your favorite does not???

Oops - touched a nerve did I. No comment on the others?

Actually, I like Gordon the racer as he does keep it interesting.
......that is until he opens his mouth at pre or post race interviews to complain about some perceived injustice on the track if he didn't win

Gordon is not as bad as he used to be, but when he bumps people to win it's ok, but when someone does it to him he cries like a baby.

As far as being a Fordnatic - when it gets to NA$CAR, all of the cars are the same - recall the travails of the COT - and the engines are all 355's and carry about the same Hp so a maker's badge is just a decal. The only difference is how many bushels of hundred dollar bills are required to buy the best of the best equipment, the savviest crews and engineers and the most talented drivers. I might even cut back on my viewing as the COT( ) has NOT made for better racin', just safer . And short track races, 1/2 - 3/4 mile are not run enough times to warrant spending so many hours in front of the boob tube.

I just want to see Bobby get number 43 back into the winner's circle once this year.

That would be a very popular win. I'd like to see Kyle Petty in winner's circle.

With all the switches this year in both cars and drivers, should be a very interesting season....

Smoke is Smoke, I hope he never becomes civilized!!!!

Gordon and Johnson are both good racers...Gordon cuz he came out of sprints, Johnson cuz Gordon is his mentor...

As for all the cars being the same... Sure they are. Now racing is going to come down to the things that matter; preparation, crews, drivers, communication, adjusting to track conditions, and of course good old fashioned LUCK!!!!!!!
