Catalytic converters are used to control hydrocarbon combustion emissions from gasoline powered vehicles. The converters, first mandated in 1976, contain small quantities of the strategic metals platinum, palladium, and rhodium contained within a matrix of either alumina oxide or magnesium aluminum silicate. These platinum group metals (PGM) act as catalysts in chemical reactions which convert carbon monoxide to carbon dioxide, incompletely combusted hydrocarbons to carbon dioxide and water, and nitrous oxides to nitrogen. This helps to alleviate the build-up of incomplete combustion products in the air around cities, decreasing air pollution problems.

Like it says small quanities so I would guess a small quanity of cash.. Ha ha
