I remember the car as having dual slicks, if it's the same car. He brought it to the Nats in Indy in '61 and tore up the the starting line in the right lane.

That's the one! That was the year before I started going, but a friend was there and told me they had to shut the race down and repair the track.

They flew a 'copter in to repair the ruts the car made in the lane. One of the weirdest things I ever saw happen at a drag strip.
