childrens forum
I was doing a advance search on this site. I saw that i could include the childrens forum. What is the childrens forum? The reason I am asking is because my 14 year old son loves old cars and wants to talk to everyone here but does not own a car yet. Can he join?
-
Sorry, just on the generic software menu, otherwise not an active forum of sorts.
-
can my son join the regular forum group. he wants to learn all he can about antique cars so he can make a educated purchase when time to get his own. He would have to use my email addy.
-
Barb,
Just as long as you as the parent realize that adult conversations will be accessed by him.
-
I realize that and i will closely monitor where he goes. Also i will pick a screen name that will let others know that he is young. Thsnk you for this. my son is thrilled.
-
I joined this site when I was 14 or 15, without joining, I would not have the cars
I do today, or the knowladge which has since lead to first hand experience.

I think 14 is a great age to get started on the Hot Rod deal. By that age I was an old hand at Hot Rods, hung out at one of the local racer's garage and by age 14 I had progressed from floor sweeping to parts washing and putting tools away!!!!! Never too young to start. There certainly is a lot worse activities to get involved in then Hot Rods!!!!!
-
i think its great for him to join. you have to start somewere. the only problem i see is he will be a gearhead for life and be asking you for a hotrod for the first car lol.
-
he already has. he wants a 69 charger but i think that i have him talked into a vega. great car to upgrade. he helps me now working on the monte. :)
-
that's cool barb i had a 70 charger for a fisrt car. someone wanted it more then me one day and i never see it again.

Wish I had been 15 or 15 when I joined this site. But the site would have been hosted on a Univac computer and access would have only been available thru either the NSA or DOD.
Other than that most of the discussions here would be clean enough for most Sunday school classes. However we do get an irrational idiot that spoils it.

If he wants a Mopar, talk him into a Dodge Dart/ Demon, or Plymouth Duster. buy a 6cyl car cheap, change the K member, put in a 318, he'll have a decent car, as long as the tortion bar mounts arn't rusted out. could even build the 6 up to 300 hp easy.
-
he really wants to talk to all of you about all types of cars. as soon as he gets his email verification he will introduce himself. I just want him to start out with a slower car until he learns to handle one. He takes more after me than his dad. Dad's hero is dale Jr. and I am a J Force fan. needless to say we have very interesting conversations here on sunday:eek: all kidding aside I believe that all young people should know what a car is and how to do at least general repair. He hopes on graduation 4 years from now that he will attend U.V.A and get into auto engineering.
-
Yeah a Vega!! Shoehorn in a blown 454 and he'll have a real car. GM always wanted to build them that way, but they got sidetracked with all of the bad press about those puny 4's. :whacked:
