old ford in the dirt
A friend come over to visit and started looking around and telling me about "this old car" he was going to build that's going to blow my doors off
. After I stopped laughing , he proceeded to ask if I would go help him pick it up. I said "ya why not " I went with him to look and see how we were going to pull in and see which trailer I needed to hook up
and I haven't seen a ball of fire on wheels, in a while
> this is what he took me to see <

I told him for the money he will sink into it, he should just keep looking or go glass.
he told me I was getting "JADED" and didn't understand the new guy trying to get into playing with cars and "that if I didn't want to help I didn't have to!"
. So I told him I'd post the story here ( he's been lurking ) and he would get real opinions . "
please keep in mind he's going to ask me for help on this p.o.S.
"
I think it would make a cool yard pretty.

Well....at least he's got hope for it! It'd be cool just to stick her back together as good as possible and put a hell of a motor in front of it. But wow! that looks like alot of work.. Good luck

What's the matter Treekiller...............no imagination???
I'm all for saving old cars, but you are right, that one is beyond reasonably saving. Let's face it, ANYTHING CAN BE SAVED, with enough skill, time, and $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
but the pieces that are left of that car are absolutely too far gone to even think about. Even rat rodders would shy away from that one.
You are being a good friend, but sometimes friends don't want to take advice and have to learn for themselves. All you can do is what you have done here, whether he listens or not is the big question.
Don
PS: That is a four door sedan, and the entire strength of that body came from wood, and guess what the ants ate up a long time ago???Last edited by Itoldyouso; 08-02-2007 at 01:10 AM.

that pile is worth what it weighs . it is all thats left of a fordor. it would not even make a good parts car. doubt that it would ever see the road. if brought to my shop i would just smile and pass.

Well
I think ,I'm just being realistic.
For some one thats not independently wealthy and has never built a car before and lives in town so he can't store it in the field till all this comes together . From what I've seen , I'm thinking : first week spent cleaning looking at pictures of how you want it to look , 2nd spent realizing what needs to be done and how much the repops are ,3rd finding more stuff that you thought you knew , then it just spirals from there all the while your wife is saying "why did Tommy make you buy that ... Than'G ... taking my space in the garage " > you have to mentally hear this in a very ShRilL voice over and over
---- > " she's not my wife -DuDe"
I am not saying it can not be done.
" I'm all for bring the old stuff back and I don't care if it's a Ford,Chevy,John Deere , Kiser, or a Schwinn IDON'T CARE ! "
But there is a lot more to this then just what you see on t.v. That's what started this whole thing " I like Mr.Falschlehner truck also but Dang ! step back a minute and think.
I don't mind digging it up ,loading ,& hauling it but I don't think anything will ever come of that car, other then a really good story ... some of these guys have forgot more then some will ever know. Thats why this is a little funny

Well, it is worth something!!! Scrap iron is up again!!! I've parted out a whole lot nicer bodies then that!!! Don't even really see much for usable body sections on that one....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Scrap iron is up again
I was thinking the coolest yard toy for my boy ever, make it where I can weed eat under it ,four tires to play in, a little grinding and folding the sharp edges, lots of bright flames
maybe even a wooden flathead
" maybe that'll keep him out of the future projects "
I'd have to put it out with the dogs to keep the ratrodders away from it maybe in the back yard so they can't see it at all , that would also stop all the looky-lus who want to tell me about what they'd do with it.
Update: some ones LOVELY wife has been reading today & I think some one did some searching and figuring today "he was on ebay last I heard"
> "And yes I apologize for the ShRilL voice comment but you are higher pitched then my wife & you would be blaming me"
" And yes ,tell him I did buy the 67' because the guy needed the cash and yes I will sell it, come on by and drive it , we can wait... somthing will come along "
you just never can tell who is reading these forums
thanks for all the replys.

There is an upside - like Jack said -
REAL bullet holes rather than those stick-on imitations.

voices?... that's the least of my worries, some times I see them in my house.
ummm?... When the cars and trucks talk Dave ... do they sound like sexy women ? ? ? ?
why don't the 4x4s sound more butch?"Whad'ya want for nuth'N, ..............aaa,rrrrrubber biscuit... ?"

When that hulk is dug out, everything below the surface is going to be gone. It also looks like it's broken in half or collapsed in front of the rear doors. My advice: Run screeeeeeeaming
away from that wreck.
Jack
- The bullet holes are cool, though . . .
