I think ,I'm just being realistic.

For some one thats not independently wealthy and has never built a car before and lives in town so he can't store it in the field till all this comes together . From what I've seen , I'm thinking : first week spent cleaning looking at pictures of how you want it to look , 2nd spent realizing what needs to be done and how much the repops are ,3rd finding more stuff that you thought you knew , then it just spirals from there all the while your wife is saying "why did Tommy make you buy that ... Than'G ... taking my space in the garage " > you have to mentally hear this in a very ShRilL voice over and over ---- > " she's not my wife -DuDe"

I am not saying it can not be done.
" I'm all for bring the old stuff back and I don't care if it's a Ford,Chevy,John Deere , Kiser, or a Schwinn IDON'T CARE ! "
But there is a lot more to this then just what you see on t.v. That's what started this whole thing " I like Mr.Falschlehner truck also but Dang ! step back a minute and think.
I don't mind digging it up ,loading ,& hauling it but I don't think anything will ever come of that car, other then a really good story ... some of these guys have forgot more then some will ever know. Thats why this is a little funny

Tommy, you bring up a very valid point. All of these TV shows on building bikes and cars have lots of people thinking it's a piece of cake. "Heck, they built that one in a one hour show.....how hard can it be??"

I'm all for new people coming into the hobby, and everybody has to start somewhere, but a good percentage of these folks are headed in the wrong direction to start out. Even a seasoned builder would shy away from what amounts to half of a fordor sedan, and not a very good one to boot.

I have always said a first timer should either buy a car that is done, and make it his/her own, or a mostly finished project that they have some chance of completing. Anyone who has done one from drawings on the garage floor knows it ain't easy.

Oh, heck Tree, he can do it.
Lets see: $2000.00 for patch panels.
600.00 for replacement wood
200.00 for more wood cause he
cut the first pieces a inch too short
6000.00 (at least) for a frame
2000.00 for used quality running gear

2000.00 (at least)to a competant body man to straighten
all the warpage caused by welding replacement
panels to rusted metal
3000.00 for miscellaneous like brakes, brake lines, etc, etc
2000.00 (at least for minor body work and paint job.
1000.00 for glass (maybe more)
$18,800 Total and it's not done yet.

Wouldn't be a lot better just to go by a finished rod that he could modify to make it his own.

Just realized I haven't gotten to the cost of buying replacement doors from Ebay or whatever and then finding out they don't match.

Nights and weekends ,with a full time job ,that puts the car at about a 15 to 20 year project...........

Yeah, Shawn, you are right there. That's one of the reasons I recommended he buy an existing older rod and practice on it making it his style, before he tries to resurrect any old body. That one in Tree's picture is way to far gone anyway.

Heck the front half of the body doesn't seem to be there at all.

Duane the guy that owns the land said it's there ... frame also " we just don't know how bad it is..." ( there is not an icon here for this statement! ) you just have to look around right there to find all the parts.
Didn't you see one of the fenders in the water ? Shesss! part of the hood is a little ways down the creek/ditch.
But a long long time ago they needed the wheels for something else .
I'm still waiting for the e-mail when he reads your earlier post .
