Consider it a done deal, Jack. Prayers our going out for you.
Having lunch with Pastor Terry. I'll get him to add some prayers, too. Think he's in a lot tighter with the big guy then I am!!!!
Had one of them a couple years ago, my Doc said it was difficult to read the results......from a Vacuum Chamber!!! What did he mean by that?????  Heck, I don't even vacuum, I make the kid do it!!!!!:whacked: :whacked: :whacked:
I gotta call yesterday form my doctor and she wants me to go to Cass County Memorial Hospital tomorrow for a chest Cat scan. But I ain't worried, heck I'm still breathing.  I quit worrying about all that good stuff after I survived a Laryngel cancer operation in Jan 94. Any day above the grass is a good day.
Then Friday, I have to go to the VA in Des Moines for my annual (is that 10,000 mile or what?) check up. Seems like Docs anymore eat up more of time than anything else.
Wish you well Jack on the tests. I've had a few of them over the years, nothing to them.
Let us know how you are.
Don
Jack, will include you in my prayer today and hope they find nothing more than the gray matter that is supposed to be there.
Went to my doc today for my tri -annual check-up. I had a number of things to talk about and finally after about 40 minutes he told me I was healthy and should live long providing I didn't die sooner than expected. :whacked: He also told me shut and to get out!
Guess I was over my maximun insurance reimbursement limit.
Hope all turns out well Jack.
Hope to know results today, but probably tomorrow. They ended up doing an MRI. I am glad I did not know that in advance, but it wasn't too bad, but maybe the longest 10 minutes of my life, so far...
Jack
Jack...I'm sure all will turn out well.
Aren't those MRI's fun? I wonder how they can fit some people into those little tubes? I'm not claustrophobic, but that really pushes the limits. I had an MRI for my shoulder and it lasted 40 minutes. I made a mistake and opened my eyes. I couldn't wait to get out!
Good luck dude!
Pat
Oh God, I am the same way in the MRI machine. I keep saying to myself "look, you are an intelligent person, and this thing is not going to trap you in here," but I still feel like I am smothering. I almost scooted backwards out of it one time because it was really starting to close in on me. I try to amuse myself by thinking of other things, like working on my T, but if I open my eyes it is all over.
Don
Last MRI I had to do lasted nearly 2 hours. Some of the exposures took over 30 minutes. All I know is that they didn't find anything wrong. So in stead of leaving me go, they referred me to a bone specialist for a 2 hour bone scan plus an injection of ugly dye. Glad they didn't find anything either. Surely didn't want to take the exploratory crap to another level.
An "Open MRI" is far better, no more tightness, no more claustro feelings, no more nightmares.
Yeah it was fun.
I just got a call back from my doctors, and for the most part, nothing serious. I should be good for another few years. The doctor did say that my brain was shrinking at a faster pace than normal for my age. I kinda figured that, because when I was 16, I knew everything, now at 62, I am finding there is a lot I don't know..
Thank you all for your prayers and thoughts, proof that prayer works.
Jack
My last MRI was not a good experience - they fully covered me with a sheet that had to be removed!!! As long as its not too hot I think I do OK.
Also, if they would just talk you through it, the experience would be a lot better.
Glad you got good news Jack. :) :) :) :)
Don
Yeah, Jack, I am glad to hear the good news. I got my CT this morning and the Doc called with the results. Lungs are okay. No growths. But the radiologist noticed something on my kidney. So now I got to go back Monday for a CT scan of abdomin and pelvic area. I need to get over there to get this contrast to drink Sun night. I am betting it's going to be nothing also. Just making money off the insurance. :p :p **)
Good luck oldf100. I hope you are right and will remember you in my prayers.
Jack
   Man, ain't that the truth!!!!! Glad to hear things were ok... Went through a few of them back in the 70's after an especially hard race car wreck bounced my brain around.... Good to have an excuse for being partially insane, anyway!!!!!!:whacked: :whacked:Quote:

Okay, so I am at home waiting and Doc Weppler finally calls. Guess what, I really do have a big spot on one of my kidneys. (why didn't I ask which one. DOH) Any way now I've got an appointment with the uralogist tomorrow morning at 9:10. I guess I'll finally find out what is going on.
Hey, I did mine today too!!!! Good old Doc Hoff did his usual "I see you're still alive, that's a good sign" greeting then proceeded to tell me to get the heck out of this freezing cold/roasting hot, always humid climate!!!! Nothing too much new this year, other then he stills wants me to have a couple more surgery sessions and I still ain't gonna do it!~!!!!!!
Hope your report comes out good, Duane!!! Gonna be praying for ya!!!! Life with only one functioning kidney is doable, been that way here for about 25 years..... But hey, it won't come to that, to many new procedures and meds to get ya fixed up!!! Besides, the Good Lord isn't ready for ya, and the Devil can't catch ya!!!!!
Yep Duane, wish you well when you go in. As Dave said, it's probably nothing, but I know how worked up we can get until they give us the all clear.
Keep us posted please.
Don
Just got back from the urologist. "a spot on the kidney" HA!!! It seems my right kidney has been basically taken over. Doc is gone take it out but in Omaha instead of at Cass County Memorial Hospital. I don't have a date yet. There are several more tests he wants me to run to make sure the Cancer hasn't gotten in to bone structure, etc.
And I had been Cancer free with no relapse since January 1994.
Oh, well as Dave and Don have said, thank goodness God gave us two kidneys.
I also know that a person can live well with just one. A classmate of mine had one removed in 1958 due to an accident and has lived a great life.
 :HMMM:
My Brother in Law has lived a normal life with one since the '70's. He donated one of his kidneys to his Brother because he had total kidney failure. The operation was relatively simple, and he had no adverse affects whatsoever.
God was pretty smart in giving us two of some parts of our body, kind of like having spare parts laying around. :)
Our prayers will be with you Duane............you'll be fine. Keep us posted.
Don
Prayers for you Duane. I am sure everything will be fine, and hope the cancer has gone no further.
Maybe if you do have to have that one removed, Year One will have a new reproduction by then.
Please post regurlary and keep us updated.
Jack
Thanks Jack, I will keep you guys posted on what's going on. Sorry, seems I've kinda hijacked your thread. ;)
hmmmm. First time a thread hi-jack ever happened around this place!!!!!!
No oldf100, I am good. You are welcome to my thread anytime:toocool: .
Jack
You'll be fine Duane I lost my left kidney in Oct. of 98 to cancer and I'm still doing good. You're right ,thank God he gave us two. You'll be in my prayers
Thanks, Jack and Glenn. Did the Nuclear Bone Scan this morning. Should get the results some time soon and if not then on my Doctors appointment on the 9th. I'll keep you posted. **) **)
Duane I sent you a pm,Glenn
Jack, Glenn and the rest of you great guys:
Just got back from the Urologist (Dr. Lundak) and found out the Nuclear Bone Scan came out clean with no sign of cancer.
So now I am just waiting for his staff in Omaha to call and schedule the surgery. Doc says it will involve a 5 day hospital stay. I can handle that. Did the same number of days while the cardiology section played with me this last March.
Makes for a nice vacation. Just wish they had hot and cold running nurses.
Wow Duane, that's good news, compared to what it could have been. I'm so happy for you.
The heck with the nurses.........are they going to allow you to have a COMPUTER in there???????
Keep us posted please.
Don
No, Don, darn it. They said no computers.  Besides I don't think they'd like it too well if I checked in with my desktop unit, since I don't have a lap top.
I may have given the wrong impression with my last post. The Nuclear Bone Scan was to be sure the existing cancer in the kidney hadn't spread. It was the last test to ensure the rest of my body had no cancer. Which is actually good news. I can live fine with one kidney but not with out a liver or a stomach or whatever else. :) :)
Duane -
Glad the bone scan found nothing. Hope your hospital adventure is a good one and hope you get out soon and back online. :D I agree it would be nice if you had a few "hot running nurses" but I recommend you keep the "cold running ones" away.. When they put those icy cold hands on the wrong body parts, it can send you into cardiac arrest, and we certainly wouldn't want that to happen.
Duane, great to hear the bone scan was clear.Just gotta get that surgery behind you now and you're gonna be ok.I'll mention your name when I talk to the"Big Guy".I know he'll be watching over you.
Thanks to everyone for the encouraging words. I got my surgery date, August the 31st at Bergan Mercy Medical Center in Omaha, corner of Meridian and 72nd st.
I just have to have a physical on the 24th to get all my lab work done 7 days prior to surgery. That is also scheduled.
Guess I'll not be on line for a few days starting the end of the month.
