I wasn't aware of this pending show, thanks for the heads up.
I've long been an admirer of Pete Chapouris. Not just for his abilities to build a nice car, but also for his skill in transitioning from a good technician to an outstanding businessman. Not many technicians, in any field, have demonstrated that ability. To heighten the difficulty, he's carved out his niche in the market at the high end where the customer demands are more stringent. Btw, the bio of him on the site is a good brief synopsis of his career.
I've marveled at how Shine has been able to become a "star" in the hot rod business, this show being yet another plateau, and still work as an employee of SoCal. Often egos don't support that many "power personalities" in one building. That probably underscores the comment in the site text that Chapouris is like a second father to Shine. Anyone who's been an employer has made the choice whether to treat their staff as chattle or proteges to mentor. Obviously Chapouris chose the latter. It looks like the premise of the show is to have Shine "Pay it forward" as is said today.
It would be a real disappointment if the producers end up scripting and editing this thing into making these guys look like buffoons. If history is an indicator I suspect Chapouris won't let that happen...............he's worked too hard to build a quality reputation.Last edited by Bob Parmenter; 06-24-2007 at 08:49 AM.

It's much easier to promise someone a "free" ride on the wagon than to urge them to pull it.
Luck occurs when preparation and opportunity converge.
