i was cruisin in the socal web site and i see jimmy and pete have a tv series commin for which they traine or test 5 people and the winner gets a job at socal speed shop here is a link below, some of you dont like the series but hey it beats sponge bob any day since my 6 year old runs the tv ...:eek:

Yeah, it looks interesting. I like Shine's work, and some of the "Apprentice's", like Littleman are top notch builders already. I expect some of the usual Hollywood/TV dumbness to be interjected into the show (like American Choppers and the other shows), but they seem to think they have to do that to make it interesting to a broad audience, so I will look beyond that and just enjoy watching the building portions.
If they start going for hot air balloon rides and having boxing matches, I will lose interest pretty quick though.:LOL: :LOL: I'm starting to enjoy Chop, Cut, and Rebuild more and more. They don't do too much goofy stuff, and concentrate on the cars more than the others. Plus, they visit some manufacturers of parts to show how the pros do stuff.

The only problem I have with Chop, Cut, Rebuild is all the time the guys sit talking into the camera. Booooooring. Talk while you're working guys . . .
On the other hand, the projects they take on are pretty interesting.

I've long been an admirer of Pete Chapouris. Not just for his abilities to build a nice car, but also for his skill in transitioning from a good technician to an outstanding businessman. Not many technicians, in any field, have demonstrated that ability. To heighten the difficulty, he's carved out his niche in the market at the high end where the customer demands are more stringent. Btw, the bio of him on the site is a good brief synopsis of his career.
I've marveled at how Shine has been able to become a "star" in the hot rod business, this show being yet another plateau, and still work as an employee of SoCal. Often egos don't support that many "power personalities" in one building. That probably underscores the comment in the site text that Chapouris is like a second father to Shine. Anyone who's been an employer has made the choice whether to treat their staff as chattle or proteges to mentor. Obviously Chapouris chose the latter. It looks like the premise of the show is to have Shine "Pay it forward" as is said today.
It would be a real disappointment if the producers end up scripting and editing this thing into making these guys look like buffoons. If history is an indicator I suspect Chapouris won't let that happen...............he's worked too hard to build a quality reputation.
my take on it is as was said ...balloon rides and stuff loose my interest . im sure jimmy wouldnt like the hollywood editing as well though....i also ritchie from srrc is on the show i guess barry white isnt imploying him anymore

I too hope the series is true to the skills and terminal hipness of Jimmy and Pete.
