I think I ordered the wrong year fuel pump because it was supposed to be a bolt in affair but it wasn't. Supposedly this was a pump that would work for the 5.3 and fit the explorer. The original pump was housed in a plastic drum the size of a small coffee can, which served as a baffle, this seems to be specific to the 95 explorer. Unfortunately the pump did not fit in the housing so that had to go. I got the pump mounted on there OK but now there was no baffle. I found a kit from tanks inc. for fuel injection retrofit and used it as inspiration to fab my own baffle made from aluminum.

I got the frame back on it's wheels today. Next step is set the cab back on to remake the rear cab mounts. I'm going to picknpull to get some more of the small explorer body mounts that I think will work for this. Hopefully I can get them out, those body bolts are tough to remove without air tools.

Nice work! Are you going to get the steel pieces on the frame or the rubber bushings them selves?

Looks like you have a significant offset on the engine.

I got the rear cab mount remade. I liked the other mount better but I don't want to change to fuel tank for it. Used some trifive body mount rubber discs.

I finally picked a color, it's a lexus desert sage metallic. I sprayed the firewall, going to leave it satin under the hood.

That mount turned out well, I'm glad you didn't take a hammer to the tank :LOL: I like the color you picked too.

Thanks, it was tough deciding on a color, I was never going to make up my mind so a decision had to be made.

Nice work on the mount and I like your color choice as well.

I want to be a responsible hot rodder and put a couple universal cats on my truck but damn it you can't buy a simple cat in CA, no one will ship it to you. Why can't they just sell it as off road only! I don't need a CA obdii 200 dollar cat, just a plain old 50 dollar one to get rid of the exhaust stink.

That stinks. Too bad you can't have a friend out of state buy them and then send them to you.

Just curious what "stink" you're trying to get rid of by adding cats...I drive a '66 Ford F100 in CA with a '92 5.0HO EFI with no cats. It doesn't stink...and since it's pre-'76, it doesn't require smog testing.

Go to a scrap yard and find something you like.
