Thanks! The last seat I recovered was 35 years ago, so I didn't remember much from the first time! I used a factory style seat cover specifically for the VW along with a replacement foam pad, jute and hog rings. I looked on youtube for a vw seat video and found something right away.

Also, the seat heaters did not come with any instructions, so I found a video for that as well. It is not specific to the brand that I used but did describe the process and placement of the pad.

The only other information of note might be that I modified the seat back framework. The top of the seat was quite thick and had me sitting more upright than I care for, so I permanently restrained the top edge of the seat back, first with zip ties (later removed) to get everything positioned correctly and then with bicycle brake cable crimped with butt connectors. As it turned out, the factory replacement seat cover would have never fit over the thick seat back frame without the modification??
