The little detail gun is a paint mizer! It's got a 4 ounce cup, and I mixed up around 8 ounces of color anticipating that I would have to refill. Four coats of color, and I dumped about an ounce back into a jar! When I mixed the clear I did closer to 4 ounces, and again when I had my 4th coat on I still had clear left in the cup plus an ounce or so in a cup, but I was cheating into the 45 minute max gun time for the catalyzed clear so I called it good. It's definitely a good way to go for small paint needs, and at only $13 too!

Still need to do some zip tie work behind the dash, so I didn't plug it in yet but did put a test light between the disconnected negative post and cable to be sure there's not a current draw, and sure enough it lit up. Pulled all the fuses and it went off. Replacing fuses one by one pointed to stop lights, and sure enough the brake light switch was triggered since there's no fluid in them yet. Tomorrow is zip ties, dash install, then brakes.

Chasing a brake light problem today, the Technostalgia LED's have a "Rapid Fire" feature that gives three very fast pulses of the lights for both brake and turn before steady on - a great attention grabber considering they're quite bright, too, but my rapid fire was not working. The lights have four wires - park/running, stop, turn, and ground. I had wires in my American Autowire kit for running, left turn, right turn and 3rd brake light so I followed the instructions for 3 wires plus ground.

Late in the day I called Speedway, who had "rebranded" the lights as theirs, and the guy had no clue but agreed that it didn't make sense that both circuit boards would fail, and after a bit shared that as I remembered the lights were actually from Technostalgia, labeled Speedway so I emailed them. Their guy came back asking if I had connected the yellow wire, which is their turn signal input, and said that he thought I had somehow got a turn signal input into my stop light circuit. With that clue I went back and wondered, "Why does the brake lite switch output split and go to the steering column plus a dedicated wire labeled "3rd Brake Light""?

Sure enough, close inspection of the wiring diagram had the two wires that were labeled "Left Turn"/"Right Turn" designated "Left Stop/Turn" and "Right Stop/Turn" at the steering column outputs. So I clipped the 3rd brake feed and will get rid of it tomorrow, clipped the turn feeds, abandoning the yellow wires on the lamps and connected the "Stop" wire on each lamp to the respective "Turn" feeds, and Badda Bing-Badda Boom the Rapid Fire feature works just as it should! All from the guy labeling wires dropping "Stop" from the label! Rascals! Thankfully the diagram told the true story!

Baby steps....

One of those warm but not really warm days here, typical Spring. Started the day chasing why the horn didn't seem to work, so I pried out the horn button insert and unplugged it. As I was getting ready to pull the steering wheel my socket touched the loose wire and the horn blared, waking up both me and Chase who came running, barking at the noise! After taking everything apart what I discovered is that the button must be depressed with some side force, making contact with both hub and center post. Arrrrgh! I'd been carefully pushing straight down, trying for that quick "beep".

I spent much of yesterday going through receipts, printing Amazon Invoices, and checking Summit and Speedway order history to build the records of dollars spent for the visit to the Tax Lady. That'll probably happen next week. I decided that putting in floor insulation, carpeting, and interior panels isn't really smart as I'll pay tax on them every year. Instead I popped for a pair of cheapie Mayan Print seat covers, and will leave everything else bare for now. There's always time to finish them later.
I backed it out to make room for cleaning this afternoon. It's dirty, but still nice to be outside!

When we were driving up the road a few days ago after bleeding brakes and adjusting the proportioning valve the radiator overflow was dripping, giving us a bath! Got this Hi Zoot Moroso catch can and mounted it to the frame using the threaded holes for the hood hold downs, since it's looking like the hood isn't in my future....

Definitely brings a smile to my face! Looking good.

Looking at the front end the camber was obviously way off so today I'll spend a bit of time with a magnetic angle gauge and at least get them closer to right on caster & camber. That's AFTER clearing off all of the tools, hood pieces, wire scraps and miscellaneous junk, plus a few of those "why did I buy this" parts so I can take the roller body support apart to reclaim space!

I think we're in the 50's.. nice and sunny but the slight breeze has a nasty bite in it. But it is SUNNY! Yeah!!

Thought about loading the roadster on the trailer for a trip to get a VIN assigned, but the day came in cloudy and cold when the weather guy said to expect sunshine most of the day.... Barely got above 50, and threatened rain all day. Decided that it was probably best to have it wearing the steelies & dog dish caps for the visit to the VIN/Tax people rather than explain the Cragars, so made the swap this afternoon. With Covid19 they've consolidated the locations where we can get a VIN review and assignment, so now it's a hike up I35 and they only work 8am to 1:30pm Tuesday through Friday.
