Yeah I know. I believe it is because welding can warp the flange a bit on those. I think if you weld them like you do sheet metal and body repair (very slowly and jump around a lot) they will still be okay because it will be less heat going into the flange area thus less destortion. The ones I have you weld the tube and not the flange. So the HAZ (Heat Affected Zone) will be all on the tubing and not the flange.
