Very nice work on that cross member. Those reliefs will make it so much nicer to work on!

Awesome! I was following your coupe build as well on here. It will be nice to see another Willys truck here, you don't see that many. I own one myself and just started a thread in this section as well, check it out if you get the opportunity. I'm looking forward to seeing this come together. I don't quite have the time or money to build one from the ground up like this, but it's sure awesome to watch a project come together.
Thanks Roger, 1" x 1/8" tube with the side cut out, the nuts will be replaced with castle nuts when finally bolted up. I did have other options by putting the bolts in from beneath but its not good practise as if the nuts came undone the bolts would fall out, as it is if the nuts did undo the bolts will stay in place, If it had been a coilover rearend I would of used 1.5" x 1.5" box as the coilovers mount far apart, on this type of spring all the force is in the centre plus I will tie a towbar into this crossmember.
.
The rearend is ready to put in place so decided to sort out the front F100 hubs as they are old Ford 5.5" x 5 and my wheels are Jag/Chevy, redrilled the stud pattern to 4.75" x 5 with a 14.4mm drill and then reamed out for the stud lead to 15.3mm, thought I would clean up the hubs in the lathe as its quicker, just a few very light cuts to clean up but I was surprised how far out of bonk the faces were, they are all spot on now.

I really like the look of the old lever arm shocks and they work fine so will keep them and adapt the linkages, the arms however were pretty ugly things (not as ugly as Tiki Des but pretty awful) so they received a bit of attention from Mr cutting disc & Mr flap wheel, look a lot sleeker now the rubber bushes were shot so turned up some new poly bushes on the lathe.

Nice work! Did you weld the holes shut that were in it? Just curious as I've had ideas of doing this to some cast pieces too.
Steve, is Mr. Flap Wheel a bench grinder mount, something like this:
Attachment 60163
or do you use something else? Just curious...
Got a few hours in last night and managed to modify the 37-41 spindles to accept the F100 front drums, they need 2 small mods the first being a bit of grinding to clear the back of the wheel cylinders, I will let the pics do the talking.

The 2nd modification is to allow the bearings to fit, on the early ford spindle there is a large radius fillet where the bearing sits, this needs reducing in a lathe so the bearing can sit flush.

The spindle is chucked in the lathe and a revolving centre inserted in the machined centre on the back, then the radius is reduced to a small rad.

All the parts I don't need at the moment will now go for media blasting and black powder coat.
Hopefully tomorrow I will drill the axle and adapt the spindles, looks pretty straight forward but we will see
.
Roger I mislead you mate by saying flap wheel when I should of said flap disc, Your right in your post thats a flap wheel, sorry for the confusion.
This is the flap disc I use for most of my profiling.

those work great for cleaning up and polishing
Awesome work! Another reason whay a metal lathe is on my list of have to haves.
Here is another type of flap wheel for a die grinder. I love these for cleaning bores when doing ball joints, u-joints, newer hubs, wheel seals, etc. The link is just a reference pic. You can get these at a lot of different places and in different grits as well.
