Been spending some time out in the shop Got new cross member fitted mocked up engine trans to get driveshaft length. Can't find a yoke for the trans I think I gave it to a guy way back when. Figured I sell the trans and never need it. Yeah sure. Anyway here is where I'm at now :D Next take it all apart and run new brake and fuel lines.
New brake lines and fuel lines are in. Now I have to get back to other peoples cars.
Looking good Charlie! I think that trans is a little sporty for a work truck. :LOL: It should move out nicely for sure!
This is not going to be a work truck. Well not at first.
Little update. I have spent the last 2 days working on the clutch linkage for my 72. One wouldn't think its all that tricky as the truck was stick. But as I now have angle plug heads I bought Hooker Headers to match. They were the only ones that made them>> SOO I found out they will work great IF you are running auto trans. There is a tube running next to the oil filter and that is where the linkage is supposed to go. Today after cutting the linkage arm off the third time and rewelding it I think I have it to where the linkage will fit without hitting the tube or the filter. BUT because I cut the adjusting rod shorter back 2 steps it is now to short. I found another one so all is (almost ) Who says modifying cars (trucks) ain't fun. If my camera was working I show pictures . That to is giving me fits.
Charlie, good luck with it. It'll definitely be worth it to have a close ratio fast shifting trans. This'll be a fun truck to drive. By the way, Brother's is having a decent sale on things through April I believe.

been there a time or to last three were chevy II s one with sbc with angle plug heads other two were bbc in chevy II s one with 2 3/8 tube headers after i was done i was in a padded room and took up basket making ...decided there must be a better way to make money... then building headers so i stop building them .not sure if i ever will be fully healed as i still talk to my self and sometimes i do not know who.s taking to me**):whacked:Quote:

I don't build many headers/exhaust anymore because unless they are zoomies (fuelers) or side pipe type for open hood type cars--look at the 32 in my gallery-----and the amount of argon-------------------you can use up hundreds of dollars wroth of gas and rod and people want to know why something so simple as an exhaust can be so expensive------------
The last Chev ll that I did a clutch on for 406 sbc had an aftermarket front frame and I ended up using parts that I made go kart spindles out of as a pivot foeward on the crossmember with just a push rod thru the header tubes by the filter-------I'll look for some pics---

I had similar issues when I put a 427 in my old 69 K20. I finally got the engine and trans in and then started modifying everything else to work. Man I grew tired of that project quickly. :LOL: I did get it done though.
yep chevy lls are just a warm up ford bbc anglia s are fun five pounds a $hit in a 1/2 pound bag. Car was fun to watch at the track never knew what it was going to do after he came off the trans brake Wayyyy to Hard he used both side of the track and ran over the ligths at the track :)Quote:

primed engine. Installed dis., cap and wires. Guess I better finish rebuilding the carb. With any luck I'll have these two parts back together next week:)

Nice valve covers..i like them look like wide with less fin on the top look good. i did a car that a customer had a chromed Z bar and was running a 3 figher slipper Ram cinder bronze face set up in a Can. boy the Z bar busted like glass was Co2 shifted liberty after i made a new Z bar you could drive a tank on it and stopped bending. if he chromed it i was going to kick him in the nuts. wish i had photos of the car. was a 800+hpV6 it made that with the heads lifting . buick twin turbo car .you have a T 10 4 speed in this... see the iron side cover :)
Well Core support is on but missing the lower radiator supports. Seems like its always something.

Well the cab is on the hoist I'm finishing the welding then (because I'm not that great a metal man) I'll give it a coat of filler. I just have a hard time finding time. The old man in town keeps me busy with his customers cars and trucks.
What happened to the radiator supports?
One is missing so I ordered new ones. The new ones are on back order. Don't want to use old rusty stuff so I will wait. Got plenty other things to work on.
I lost a set for mine in the mix of things too. Must be a common issue. :LOL:

Love those trucks, great to customize. Helped a friend years ago with a 68, it was a real head turner.

sounds like the same stuff! It took like two weeks to get the stuff off my face and hands!
Like a kid with a new toy. Spent the day starting the engine for the 72 C10. Wish I could say I pushed the button and it went right off. :eek::LOL::LOL::LOL: BUT it took awhile to figure out the many thing that were wrong...distributor off 1 tooth. Carb WAY out of adjustment. A module in the distributor was intermittent (now in garbage) :mad: But in the end it did fire and run. I had it running about 1/2 hour. Never over heated so I feel it was a GOOD day. BUT now I have no more excuses for not doing the body work. :LOL:
It runs well so it's a good day in the neighborhood! Good Job.

Today back to the body on the C10. The left side is done except for some self inflected scratches. Right side is ready for welding. Maybe tonight Chris has to work late so I might start on it after I get some chow. I replaced the inner rockers too. Can't wait till cab and frame are back together. Then its work on inner and outer fenders and doors. :whacked:
very nice build and it must be great to have that space to work even though I fully understand the more space you have the more space you need.
