When I mounted the wheels, I had the brake rotors in place, but not the calipers. Getting the wheel past the calipers might be even more difficult.
After wrestling with those tires for several hours, I see only two solutions - a wheel opening as large as the tire or fenders that are a couple of inches wider. The fenders are already wider than normal, since the car uses a standard 56" wide rear end, but has enough fender width for the 295 tires.
A tubbed wheel well with a narrowed frame and narrower rear end would also do the trick, but it would look weird if there was 2" of clearance between the tire and the outside of the fender.
The guys at the OZE Rod Shop thought nothing of the issue - they install that tire width on their cars all the time.
