I agree, it's more than "...good enough..." it looks just fine as it is. I have not used the aniline dyes yet myself, but learned about them at a small custom furniture shop in Maine. They use mostly maple, some cherry, and a few exotics but lots of clear pine for stool & chair seats but they get precise color match with different woods mated together. The shop owner told me the secret is aniline dyes, and that they can precisely match an existing finish, like if someone has a table and four chairs but wants them to make two more chairs to match. They use an alcohol lacquer top coat, sanded and waxed. Beautiful stuff!

I just mentioned it for a future reference, and in case someone else is doing woodwork and might be struggling to get the color they want, especially with different types of wood.
