One of my cars is turbocharged and I've been hammering on that one for 13 years. My casual observation is that too often people run more boost than the octane can safely sustain so they knock, detonate, and trash the bottom end and/or pistons. If you keep boost and ignition timing within reason the motor should hold up quite well.
That chassis is very robust; I would never have thought of doing it that way...I reckon it (the chassis and mounts,) will take anything you want to put through it.
I'm impressed.

big update today, got the front chassis rails tacked in place and bolted on the front suspension and the wheels.

even with the narrow front end and the engine set back everything seems to fit ok.

Love your work! And hope I can ask this question! Isn't the lower A frame mounts (frame side) more than a bit low??
Was this intentional for some reason I'm not seeing??? Not questioning your work! They just seem lower than I'd be comfortable with and curious what the angle works out to.

i guess i will answer that without a reply theres is no part of the frame that is lower than 5" of the floor.

got a bit more done,got the steering rack in place and made a frame to support the weight of the turbo and got it mounted and started the exhaust.

just ordered a few more bits for the exhaust so should be able to get a bit more done this week.
Nice ride attitude on the body mounting, great job!! Wish we would have that body here in the states, got to be a fun build!!!!
That's going to be one mean street machine when finished!
bit more progress. exhaust manifolds now done and remounted the turbo closer to the engine for a bit more room for the radiator.

I'm really enjoying watching the build come together, always like to watch the unique cars get some well deserved attention!!!! Never have played the turbo game, what size and what brand are you using???
Wow, I'm impressed with your build and like Dave, enjoy watching you bring it all together. You won't have a lot of room to run the exhaust back past the engine to the rear of the car will you ? I do so want the Mk2 Z car in the back ground in one of the photos as it is just begging to be tudorized and a V8 lovely planted between the rails.

we have two mk2 consuls , one is to be restored as origanal the other is a rust bucket which is going to end up with a new chassis under it and a diesel turbo motor for go power and chopped into a pickup.

Amazing work and so clean. Will the bonnet, hood for our American friends, need a hood scoop or bulge to allow more room underneath for clearance or are you going for the sleeper look of a standard bodied car with a tiger hidden under the panels ?

trying to keep the body looking original but will have to put a bulge on the bonnet.
Will there be some sort of flexible tubing between the header and the pipes into the turbo as I wondered about the engine flex on the mounts when you apply light pressure on the accelerator pedal ?
no, the turbo is mounted on a frame which is rubber mounted to the chassis so it all moves with the engine. there will be a flexi in the exhaust system after the turbo.
I just knew you would have it all worked out for the flex on the engine. What diameter is the outlet from the turbo and is that the size you will run down under the car or what are your plans for the exhaust as when you drop the car you will need clearance still.
the exhaust outlet is 3" , the whole system is 3" right to the back which runs through the holes in the frame so there are no clearance issues.

RSpears has a post that he shares with directions on how to post. I'm certain he'll be along and share that with you.
Basically if you want to post pics straight to the site (5 pic limit per post) Just choose "Go Advanced" and then scroll down until you see "Manage Attachments" and then direct your browser to the pic location then upload.
RSpears explains it better.... but give it a try.
