I'm with you Jack, that's why most of my stuff stayed the original color or sported gray primer for the rest of its life. I guess I was about 22 years old when I did my first "down to bare metal" job on a VW bug. Never again.

been doing the chassis tonight as i want that painted like the topside. all ready have no skin on the ends of my fingers but i guess theres always pain before any gain.

bit more on the body work, got the other side skimmed

and a bit of blocking on the other side and more skimming

welded in some side indicators

sanded down and skimmed


and also got the last bit of metal work to replace the boot seal panel

hopefully get some more primier on on tuesday night.

Is the side marker lights a legal requirement? Or do you just like'em?

need the side indicators as the car has to go through an iva test as its modified more than the 8 point system we have over here.

Interesting, "IVA"? what is this? A "fitness" program..as in roadworthy / safety.?.? And what are these 8 points you refer to? If I can ask..??

sorry 34 40 cant seem to work out how to get a link to the iva test to work.

really starting to get the body work sorted now, blocked the car with 120 grit today with just the roof to do tomorrow and then back in primer ready for monday as i have a couple of days off.

very near to paint now, just sorted out the bonnet and boot lid so the gaps are now spot on. few little bits on the body to spot putty and then its time for some more primer. it should only then be flat reprime , wet sand and paint.






hopefully the next pics you see will be of it in colour.
