I love the color too. Amazing how different light really changes it! Nice job on the painting!
Wet sanding first light pass with 1000 , then 1200 and final a 1500 . If I would have rinsed of the plastic curtain prior to spraying I know i would not have these specs in it at all . Well now the paint becomes a 10 point so it will shine on :) .
Ah yes, the dreaded wet sanding time!!! I'm at the same point on the Cutlass now, it's always fun and you certainly don't have to worry about what to do with your spare time!!!! Been over most of the car now with 2500 and did some buffing on parts of the car. Lots of work, but well worth the effort!!!!!
Dave i am no buffer that is scary to me . Been looking at youtube vids and trying to pick up what i can in technique and the materials to use . I am used to the old heavy duty compounds from the 80s .
got some 1200 time in getting closer Dave you are using 2500 wow must feel like it glides over with out cutting .
Steve ( stovens ) you have a good eye i thought it was the lighting that brightened it up but Nason formula is off by a few shades lighter . Yesterday picked up another qt and against the color chip it showed up and I checked it against a old part i had . Should have went with the Du Pont LOL well to late done and going on the block anyway .
Looks great! If only my garage jobs turned out that nice. Even looks better than the last few repaints I've paid for.
Looking great! Man, that wet sanding is a lot of work.
Quick Question Bobby.. are you wet sanding or doing it dry? I end up with a mess all around the car when I did it wet and yours still looks so clean!
Thanks Bobby.
I've still use an old two handed buffer with 9" pads. I go back and forth from my "old fashioned" wool pads to them "new fangled" foam pads!!!!! On the Cutlass, I started with a med wool pad and 3M regular cut Perfect It II rubbing compound. Did the car once with this, then scrubbed it thoroughly with hot water and soap, then buffed it one more time with a black foam pad and the same compound using very light pressure.
It is looking really nice Bobby. I'm always really nervous to wet sand on a fresh paint job. I have a tendancy to go through on pre paint sanding, so I'm a nervous Nelly.
Attachment 62918Attachment 62919Well all wet sanded and buffed over this last year ,, still spending more time at work then home :( . I made a trip to my paint store and did see I didn't tell him code D for 67 and there are a few different shades Of it by paint supplier brand . Well still happy even though it is a few shades lighter version . The iridescence pops in the light .
Well missed being here and this puter box had been down for awhile and using momma"s LOL well won"t go there ..
