Jerry asked the same question I was about too, although I think it is maybe because the distributor is at the wrong end of the engine ? LOL.I maybe a little crazy but it stops me going insane.

can you put the idler on the other side???? it would also help with the pull of the belt by the rotation of the crank---would help garud against the socalled ratcheting which leads to premature belt failure----and if you could put idler on outside forcing belt inwards would help with the WRAP with more teeth in contact-------
and from an old time fuel dragster/funnycar guy-----we always put the big pulley on the bottom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
