Wow Steve, even the stainless wire cap strap is just amazing and is the sort of detail that I would not of thought of. Very very nice and as Stoven's said, we are under ground compared to your skill level but in saying that, thankyou for sharing with us as your ideas and skill helps us to set our horizon higher. So to you and Ken Thurm on behalf of everybody else on here, thankyou guys..;)
Got lucky today and found a stainless banjo & bolt

A few people asked about the copper washers so here's what they look like before compressing.

Wow...........just WOW, Steve. Really art. I imagine you run silicone brake fluid (as do I) so that pretty finish doesn't get damaged by regular DOT 3 ? And here I am happy when I get a nice bug bomb finish on my MC. :o:o
Don
I never run silicone fluid Don, too many bad things with it for my liking :(
I just run Dot 4 fluid It don't seem to affect 2K paint anywhere near as bad plus you shouldn't have fluid leaking
Looks like we may not be over this year after all, maybe early next year.
Yeah, I've heard stories about soft pedal and all with silicone, but that hasn't been my experience. In fact, when I got around to finally restoring my 27 and drained the brake fluid that was in there, it came out a clean as the day I put in in, and that was 20 odd years ago. The wheel cylinders and lines were also in great shape, probably due to the Dot 5 not being hygroscopic. Here in Florida where our humidity is like 7,000% it seems to make a real difference.
Sorry you and Sue aren't coming this fall. :( Hope it is soon though.
Don
Yesterday was such a nice day I decided it was time i cleaned my block ready for reboring and hot tanking, Put it on a stand and first job was to remove the various core plugs and gallery plugs and then started zip wheeling the crud off, The caddy block is a high nickel block and quite a good smooth casting, They don't rev very high in normal operation so are not generally worn even after high mileage, I'm boring it 60 thou but decided to mic up the bores and lifter bores etc etc anyway out of interest, I don't know how many miles it had done but there was nothing wrong with the bores at all, they all measured stock with no ovality at all, amazing !!! Shame to bore it really.

Once the crap was off I started to smooth the various casting flash off but got sort of carried away anyway here it is roughed out, just needs a going over with a finer flap wheel and a few corners to smooth out and it should look nice painted.

Oh so you got carried away, heck why paint the engine, just keep polishing it to go with the highly polished frame.:toocool: Now I 'm gonna be lazy and ask what type of engine is it??? Yeah I know I could go back to the start of this thread and start reading it again to find the answer but I'm too lazy today.
PS. Hope you didn't get any crude all over Sue's pickup????
Steve, that's going to look great!
Ken
Too bad you can't clear coat it to keep that shinny metal look!. Would go great with the stainless steel theme.
