Repair Vs restoration

I recently got back in to my love of cars by buying a 1990 Mustang LX 5.0 7-up convertible that was originally a California car until a few years ago. I live in NJ and I need to figure out how far to go between fixing broken stuff (water pump, door lock actuators etc) and keeping it original. This car is in very nice original condition with only 106k on it and I was raised by a car guy to believe that a car is meant to be driven and enjoyed not a trailer queen (then it is not a car anymore but a piece of art). I had subframe connectors installed and had them under coated and I am wondering whether to replace the interior (Drivers seat is pretty trashed) and fixing the little dents and scratches and having it repainted.???? IDK Any thoughts

Nice to have that problem. I guess you want to figure out the body before painting it. Or, at least, <I> don't want to do major mechanical stuff right after a paint job.
What are you thinking of - drags, autocross, track, or just fun on the street?
