As in any group setting it's always cool to know a bit about the other members. If you wouldnt mind taking a minute and telling us about your what interests in Model A's are, a little about your self and what you would like to see happen here it would be appreciated. Thanks

Really, 10 members and not a single Intro. Well well

Guess I will try to get this ball rolling.
My forum name everwhere else is Metal Twister but for some reason this forum took the name and locked me out. So on the second try I signed up as M.T. which worked for awhile. Now im on metal twister 3.0 and Im known as M.T.1 here. I was born into the hotrod scene almost 58 years ago. In pops youth he chopped his first T coupe in Hollywood, Ca, in about 1952 or so. He kinda did his hotrod thing in LA then moved to Escondido Ca where I joind the family soon after. All my life has been cutting chopping and wrenching on different types of vehicles. When I was 15.5 years old I finally got to take my driving test. Passed with flying colors and a few days later I took over one of pops Model A's. A 30 coupe with the rumble seat, 53 Ford flat head, 39 3 speed tranny with Juice brakes and a pretty red metalic paint job... Oh did I mention chrome wheels. Damn Nothing Else Mattered!

A few years later I was working night shift and it needed a new fuel line. I left it for pops to fix one night as I was working. Got home around 1:00 as usual to find my little red coupe at the foot of the driveway smoldering in white foam. The fire department used a shovel to pry the burning hood off and filled the tank with the white snail snot they put fires out with back then. The car was cacooned and put in the back of the shed. I went into the Air Force and did my 4 years and got out in 76. started a few times to work on it but life got in the way a few times. Then kid then just everything. a few months ago I dug it out of the barn. I still have it but it hasnt been on the road since 1975. Almost 50 years!

Now to be fair I've I have always had cars so its not like my life was just all screwed up because I didnt have this on, But this is kinda special to me! I spent almost 20 years as a welding salesman and decided about 15 years ago to get into what pops started full time. As a metal fabricator Ive had the family hot rod business for what seems for ever. Built everything from extreme rock crawlers to long travel sand cars and several nice bikes but there is something about Henry's Ford model A that still really turns me on. After haveing my hands thousands of them they are still my favoriate!

So Now I use pops Model A to build rear roll pans to sell as well as a manikin for the seat frames we build. Heck maybe some day I will actually make it a priority project and finish it again, Or maybe not? LOL

Now its chopped 3", full fendered, Retro 327 fueley head tunnel ram, with a pretty sweet bar hopping powerglide, Now I just need to make time for it. So what do you have Model A wise? When and where did you get it? Whats the plans

I have a 31 Sport Coupe with a IFS TCI chassis. I plan to go with a SBC / 5 Speed combo with full fenders. It's completely apart. I just bought it as a package deal. I have some stock parts (chassis, front axle, 5 wheels, four tires, boxes of original small parts, complete steering wheel, seat springs, P/u seat frame, pedals, original wood, front and rear hubs, etc.) to trade for some hands on help. I would like to chop it 2 inches and make it a roller. I have never done a rod from scratch. I need help mounting the body and fenders and ensuring that I assembled the chassis correctly.

Like the deuce, but love the 29. My wife and I got her dad's 29 and like to re-paints a tribute to her dad. Looking for classic valve covers and banjo steerling wheel to finish it off.

    Hello "A" Model Group,
I am the proud owner of a "29 Ford Street Rod Pickup. It is entirely metal except for the fenders and is entirely custom built, including the chassis. There is a fairly new 350 Chevy Crate engine under the hood, with a 4 Barrel and it only has 6,000 miles on it. It is coupled to a 3 speed Chevy automatic and 9" Ford rear. There is AC to keep me cool in Florida. It has about 25,000 miles on it and was built in 2009.
I will post a photo as soon as I figure out how to place them on this web site.
