Sure would be fun to set the new engine and tunnel ram in a '65 or '66 Mustang Fastback! A bit of suspension work, roll bars, and you'd be all ready for some Trans Am racing!!!!!!

And that is exactly what that intake was created for! Trans Am!
Wish I could've seen a race or two from "back in the day" , live and in person!!

On the SAAC site, there was one fella running this intake, but I don't remember him having any complaints or issues with it. Just a bit of "vintage" style racing. I found it amusing as this intake wasn't available until 1969. He's running it on a notch back 68 Mustang. So he isn't "technically" legal.. but whos counting? LOL..

Just looking at the neat old Shelby parts makes me want to go road racing again!!! Lots of vintage races around the country now for the Trans Am series cars, as well as A and B Production classes in SCCA, where the Shelby's ran!

Yep! same here.. I've been to Watkins Glen once. I'd love to make it back. A great track with a bunch of history. Set out on the lawn and just watch / listen to the cars!! Way cool...

That's cool! Not very pretty when you see it up close! But she's been a workhorse for a lot of years! Or perhaps I should've said a thoroughbred ? Nah... just a mustang! LOL..

So I go out with the coupe for a ride yesterday since I was doin' the bachelor thing and just having a nice ride along the country roads when all of a sudden.. the car seems to go flat... Cr_ P!!! SO I coast to the edge of the road and try to re-start but it just cranks and cranks... Again.. Cr_p!

I realize I'm sitting to close to the center still so I gotta push it... Yes.. CR_P!

Once I'm out of the car the fans startup with the heatsoak from the motor and I'm curious if I've left the key on and peak inside to see that indeed the key is still turned to on.. and then I realize.. I don't hear the fuel pump... hmmm.. did I mention.... CR_P!! Well, I push the car to the edge.. (it rolls quite easily!) and jump back in to turn the key off. As I'm sitting there realizing I don't have my cell phone! Yes, CR_P! And I'm out amongst the cornfields... AH CR_P!!!

I thinking I gotta abandon the car and hoof it to a house and hope their home.. I then turn the key and hear the fuel pump running! What the??? I give it a minute and let it fill the carb then start the car and start driving home. We get about 5 minutes of driving in and it dies again. BUT! I'm a lot closer then I was... cr_p!

Well. Long story short. I drove it all the way back to the shop like this. Except each run got shorter and shorter, til I waited longer to let the pump cool. But I could wrap my hand around the pump and it wasn't hot?!?!?! No matter, we made it back into the shop and I didn't have to do any more pushing! Did I say? CR_P!!!

So.. this stroker will be running a mechanical pump, I had already planned on that by making sure the eccentric was in place.. I guess I learned a couple lessons yesterday, don't trust a holley fuel pump and always keep the cell phone close by... fwiw..

Mike - if you recall, even having that eccentric, if it's the two piece version is still not a guarantee that you wont 'run out of gas' (or forget the cell phone).

Holy CRAP, Mike, do you have an aversion to the letter "A"??

Sorry your country cruise turned into a PITA! That's why my cell phone is always stuck to my person unless it's stuck to the charger. It may result in cancer on my right pelvis (always in my pocket) but at least I can always call AAA....

So, did you determine the fuel pump is bad or just a bad connection or something?

Looking to the brighter side, at least you got to take your car for a cruise even though it was intermittent. I look forward to that day with mine!!!

    Happy Thanksgiving!!!

I've installed the heavy single piece eccentric. And yes, there is no guarantee. With the fuel pump OR the cell phone!!

No. No aversion to "A".. I was just remembering how crap turns to s_ _t!

I've never gotten into the habit of carrying the phone. I leave it behind all the time, even workdays which is bad 'cause it's their phone!

I'n not going to go seek what the pump problem is as the whole deal comes apart over this winter. But, it seems to be "lazy".. it runs for a bit then stops. So, I'm glad I didn't need a roll back or wrecker but I hate it that I got stuck, even for a bit!
