Been a while and I figured I better add in something for an update!Between the below zero temps and snowstorms and family duties or Mark's 28... I have actually made some time for my car. I got all the major components in place and have begun chasing down 1 system at a time. Here's a couple picks of the rough in.. I also realized that there's enough advertising for Shelby on this motor that I should get a commission check once a month!

Looks great in there, nicely detailed and super clean looking!! Very nicely done! I sympathize with you on the weather, same way around here except for considerably less snow.Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Mike, it appears that your air filter is catty-wompus!!Oh, wait.....it's supposed to be that way!!!
It looks great!!! I'm excited for the video when you fire it up! You'll also have to get a shot of the gas gauge and see if it moves faster than the speedometer....."It is not much good thinking of a thing unless you think it out." - H.G. Wells

So I did get a few hours in on the car.. things like the plug wires are on.. and plumbed the carbs with new gas line.. then I went to install the hold down for the distributor! Rut Row Ralph......... there's a cross connecting piece that travels right in front of the distributor and it is right over the threaded hole for the fastener and dizzy clamp!! So - two hours on Saturday and 3 more on Sunday!! All for 1 bolt!!
After cutting up a wrench and heating / bending it to get the angle and some grinding to get more throw... It's IN!
And the worst part has to be bending over them fenders!

Well.. it runs! Got a couple hours in today and went through the steps and got the car re-fired. Runs pretty decent right off and after chasing a couple nagging leaks.. I called it a day. Also spent a couple hours last night on Marks 28 A and got that running! He left the shop last night and his feet weren't touching the floor! Talk about happy! Shortly after he got back into the shop today he jumped into the A and tapped the key and it sprang to life and he was smiling ear to ear!
Later I had the coupe running and Mark starts the A and was "chuckin'" revs at me.. To Funny! Now he can't wait for springtime so we can go for a cruise! 8-)
Randy, I'll somehow figure out how to get a video for you....

Mike,
I somehow missed that you got the engine running with the cross flow fours! I really like the look, and the air cleaner sitting at an angle is going to draw attention to that manifold. The only thing that would make it look better is to have it sitting in something in my shop instead of yours.I agree with Randy, we need a video of the gas gauge to see if it's reverse acting with the tach & speedometer

The dual four's won't be as bad as you think, unless you drive with your leg in it all the time. This setup was for road racing and endurance racing where mileage is always a consideration, with the linkage and jetting correct they do just fine!!!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

And I think the vacuum secondaries will help in that department.. fella I've been chatting with on the side, runs this same setup, dual 390 holleys with the vacuum secondary, he won't quote a mpg number but says it isn't any worse than the single 750 he was running on a stroked small block.
But I really don't care about mpg honestly! The car only has 1 purpose after feeding my creative side. And that's to help me relive my younger years by scaring the snot out of me when I put the small pedal on the right to the floorboard! It hasn't failed me yet!
Luckily, the police chief is a family friend in town... but, I cannot strain that relationship much further! They call it "Exhibition of Speed" when you smoke the rear tires.. but the fine is relatively soft..
My brother and S.I.L. were over from Texas a couple months back and during the ride with my brother, I stomped into the throttle and the car jumped sideways!
When we got home my parents asked him about the ride and how he liked it.?.?
All he kept saying was "Never Again"!!
