Well, let's see.... What Ford engine we talking about, what heads, what's the rest of the valvetrain consist of, what lifters do you have in there now, are they all ticking or just one or two???...... I've run both Comp and Lunati rollers, sometimes hydraulics, sometimes solids. If the rest of the valve train has the correct parts, never had a bit of trouble with any of them.....

they will bleed down fast from 25 to 30 seconds lifter bore could be abit loose could try resetting the lash or try another lifter i know on the 289 you have to pull the heads to get the lifters out but the tall deck W bock should get them out ??

Yeah, what Pat said!!! Lifter bores can be a bit loose and hydraulic rollers do bleed down quick. Don't really see where a tick at start up is a big deal especially when it goes away... As Pat mentioned, run the valves again, make sure the adjustment is dead on. They are fussy about that.

there is some photos of a big M bbc block in my galley were the lifter bore is busted clean off were i welded a iron boss back on the block then bored it over size them made up a bushing out of bronze then bore it on the mill that shows what can be done .but the in short yes its done all the time on race stuff i am set up to fix them. on race stuff guys move the lifter bores and go bigger lifter bodys some guys bore chevys 842 o.d lifter to 874 o.d ford and roller stuff guys will bore lifter bores and bush for 903.od or 937 .od and bigger.. and use a keyed bushing that holds the roller lifter in track gets very $$$$
