really???....a week and no-one has any experience with retro lifters.....priceless
Well, let's see.... What Ford engine we talking about, what heads, what's the rest of the valvetrain consist of, what lifters do you have in there now, are they all ticking or just one or two???...... I've run both Comp and Lunati rollers, sometimes hydraulics, sometimes solids. If the rest of the valve train has the correct parts, never had a bit of trouble with any of them.....
thank you Dave......351W bored .040.....scat balanced rotating....edelbrock performer small valve heads....comp retro roller lifters, comp pushrods, comp roller rockers.....one is ticking on start up.....with the valve covers off and not started, the rear drivers side bleeds down quick....within a few minutes the tick goes away.....my thoughts are the retro lifters....havent opened it yet
Yeah, what Pat said!!! Lifter bores can be a bit loose and hydraulic rollers do bleed down quick. Don't really see where a tick at start up is a big deal especially when it goes away... As Pat mentioned, run the valves again, make sure the adjustment is dead on. They are fussy about that.
A tick... when I start my suburban it sounds like a diesel. a few seconds later its just fine..99 350. 124000 miles holds 35/40 op leave it alown and drive it
thanks....b
there is some photos of a big M bbc block in my galley were the lifter bore is busted clean off were i welded a iron boss back on the block then bored it over size them made up a bushing out of bronze then bore it on the mill that shows what can be done .but the in short yes its done all the time on race stuff i am set up to fix them. on race stuff guys move the lifter bores and go bigger lifter bodys some guys bore chevys 842 o.d lifter to 874 o.d ford and roller stuff guys will bore lifter bores and bush for 903.od or 937 .od and bigger.. and use a keyed bushing that holds the roller lifter in track gets very $$$$
all it takes is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and maybe a little more..
