    New toy for 37

Finally got this picked up today in the cold Chicago rain . A 351 a guy I work with pulled out of a early 80 squad car . Has a 2v on it now but change is good right . I do know they will expand a great dimension if you want . Will place the T-5 from the 31 behind it and I think get a C-4 for the 31 . Cheaper then a song .

Now its snowing outside geez I love it here .

Anyone have a good site to get the castings from have hit a few but really would like to cross reference a few more . Just to be sure info on this engine is right the intake # starts FE-E1

    Hey Bobby,
Sorry I don't have a good site for deciphering the numbers on your engine. If I find one, I'll let you know.
I think a 351W will be cool in your 37, especially with the T5. You probably know this already but you'll probably have to have the rear sump oil pan & pickup tube. They came on 80's F150 4x4'x and E150 vans, maybe 90's too.

Your firewall will need a bit more modification too. Are you going to modify the original one or go for the aftermarket? As you probably read in my thread, IC2 recommended that I get the big-block firewall for more clearance behind the engine. I'm glad I did but it make it a tighter squeeze for the clutch/brake/gas pedals.

    Later,
    Randy

Randy this I think is a rear sump looking in the front where cover is missing the pick up tube runs to the rear of pan . The 84 in the 31 is a front sump looks like 2 halfs put together but came out of a RS Capri .

Yeah, Bobby, I think you're right. I couldn't tell cause the carb hanging off the side in the pic was blocking the view of the pan. You're good to go! Cool.

Randy, I can't help it if you changed horses in the middle of the stream - heck, I'm very seriously considering taking the a/c out of mine and just using a heater for the LL - so, to talk about horses and creeks......... and probably about the same buxs

LOL!! So, to play the devil's advocate here, Dave.....if you've already got the AC set up, why do you wanna take it out now??? LOL!

    What's the "LL"?

In spite of the challenges I've had with switching to a 5speed trans, I'm still really glad you convinced me to get the big block firewall. With where my engine was already located, the 3" small block firewall wouldn't have worked for me anyway. I learned after I had the BB one installed that they also make one with a 4" setback which might have even been better....

Now... back to Bobby and his 351w.....LOL! We're highjacking his thread...LOL!

Clutter under the hood and a real tight dash area might convince me that an a/c is really unnecessary in a roadster - but, it's still there, and true to tradition (mine, that is) I reserve the right to dither a while since the cowl is still open

    LL = Little Lady

...and yes, we do have to let him have his say, sorry Bobby - (and I'm not even going to try to convince him that a C4 would be easier - just watch and maybe comment)

Highjack all you want its still car knowledge .

Dave may do the C4 in the 31 now but the T-5 is going in the 37 if I have to use Visegrips to get it to work
