    260v8 in a 1927 ford coupe.

     



    ive recently bought a 27 ford coupe with a 260 v8 2bbl auto trans, dual exhaust. Im going to start with changing the rearend , it takes it a while to get going, its got a high speed rear. would i see a major change if i went to a 4.11 rear?or is that too much? just a weekend cruiser.. its a 8" ford rear non posi.

    Your reasoning has eluded me. If it's just a weekend cruiser, what do you care how long it takes to get moving?

    By changing the rear cogs, you'll experience two changes; a little better acceleration and more frequent stops at the gas pumps.

    And yes, in my opinion, 4.11 would be too much. A workable compromise would be in the 3.70 range.

    techinspector1..right on cue..
    being a weekend cruiser the gas pump isnt a concern, also better acceleration is a good thing and im just going off your advice from July 2007 when i had the cougar..remember...
    "I absolutely agree that a gear is the first thing the car needs for improved acceleration"
    So i wanted to start with gears before throwing alot of parts at it..
    the reason i started with 4.11 is i found a real cheap one with positrack. thanks for the info..

    Heck, buy it!!!! If it's too much gear you can always go to a different set. The posi will help a bunch, too, 2 tires accelerate harder then 1!!!!
