I'd suggest to go with the supercharger manufacturer's recommendation on compression ratio, run forged pistons, and a really first rate cooling system!!!! There are a number of companies setting up and calibrating carburators specifically for supercharged cars, along with ignition systems with a timing retard feature that takes timing away from the engine as the boost pressure and rpm increases.... After that, an intercooler for the supercharger just serves to make a good system even better!!!!
I'm not trying to sell a Pro Charger system, but I have installed them before and they make a really great system for the 5.0's and their literature has very specific recommendations on what all should be done to the engine itself.... I'm sure other companies have the same thing, I'm just more familiar with ProCharger....Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

Learning must be difficult for those who already know it all!!!!
