I did my time in purgatory already..... 5 years of doing nothing but numbers matching, get the paint shade correct on the wheels, restoration b/s..... Most of those customers wanted everything for nothing and free labor to go with it then this would give them the right to bad mouth everyone who so much as put the incorrect breather cap on their car!!!!!! When I got done with that, I've never put anything together the way Detroit sent it out!!!!!!
Got to get some more sheetmetal on the front, I can "see" what it looks like all done, hard to explain it to others....
Both the 'maro and the Ranchero are on the mild side.... When they're done I'll be starting on my own version of a roadster and some sort of radical custom!!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

There's a lot of other goodies on the 'maro besides sheetmetal work... It will have a triangulated 4 bar in the rear, tubular A-arms with coil over struts on the front, 6 point bar, 4 wheel disc brakes, frame ties, and a ton of other little things that most people won't even notice.... Soon as I get Tom's coupe on it's way home and the rest of the front sheetmetal on the 'maro it's going on the rotisserie and get detailed out on the bottom...Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

I like the stock Hub Cap look . I think GM and FORD did ok on them old cars . I save all the custom work for under the Hood . As long as it's fast and looks near stock I like it . But every one has different Ideas of how to build there Hot Rods .

Help!!!!!
Ok guys back to the topic!
The heads have a casting number of C5AE (no "-E") Everything I read say that the C5AE-E are Hi Po. The heads do NOT look like HiPos, no spring pockets and no threaded studs. We haven't checked the valve size yet...
Anyone have any idea what's going on here???

Here are some more photos of 289 HP heads . Also the Hi-Po used the rocker arm style on the left . And the screw in rocker arm studs . The head shown is a # NOS C8 replacement HP head . But if your heads do not look like this and do not have the spring pockets . They are not 289 HP heads .

I sold my C50E-A 289 HP "K" code heads off my 289 engine (w/2 bent valves, disclosed) on E-bay for $550 about 4 years ago to a guy building a numbers matching Fairlane.
They are rather rare as not very many HP "K" code engines were ever built
