With the initial costs plus maintenance cost, I can't see any advantage to this COP system on a 302/5.0L. There are just too many good ignition systems available to be a guinea pig. An MSD Ready to Run distributor is a one wire hookup and is less then $300. An MSD Billet dist and 6A or 6AL box is $325 - $375. A Crane Fireball system is about the same. I wont discuss Mallory or Accel systems as IMO, their quality sure ain't what it usta be. DUI systems seem to have some good history, Petronix is ???
Then there is the tried and proven Ford DuraSpark or the later TFI systems.
I have had the COP system on my last Ford P/U and now on my new one with the V10 3 valve drive by wire engine - what a nightmare (and expensive to repair). If I could go to one coil or an off plug coil pack inexpensively, I'd be on my way for it now.Dave W
I am now gone from this forum for now - finally have pulled the plug
