Hi,
My 302 is in need of a new ignition system and I was hoping to get a Coil On Plug system, but I can't seem to find one. Is there a kit available or am I going to have to custom build one? Keeping in mind that at some point I want to toss the ol' Holley 600CFM for MPFI :p

a coil on plug is not a cheap venture on a 302.... probably the easiest method would be to add 5.0 EFI use the tps, maf, o2, crank and cam sensors off of a 4.6 or 5.4 and then run a control module for a 4.6/5.4 ..... that would be the cheapest and most effective way IMO other than that.... no one makes an out of the box coil on plug for a 302.... and HEI or duraspark II is pretty effiecient

I've been doing some pricing and I can not see this venture costing me less than $700. I can probably find a better place to spend that money :)
yup... the advantages of coil on plug really aren't that great to be spending that kind of money... an msd box will help out about as much and cost a lot less.... and save money to make other fun mods to your car
Summit part # MAA-85555101C $179.95 is a Mallory HEI for small block Fords,one wire to run, no underhood clutter and works good too.I love it !:cool:

Yeah, I put an HEI on my 327. It works a charm, but I'm wondering how it will work when I get my EFI
With the initial costs plus maintenance cost, I can't see any advantage to this COP system on a 302/5.0L. There are just too many good ignition systems available to be a guinea pig. An MSD Ready to Run distributor is a one wire hookup and is less then $300. An MSD Billet dist and 6A or 6AL box is $325 - $375. A Crane Fireball system is about the same. I wont discuss Mallory or Accel systems as IMO, their quality sure ain't what it usta be. DUI systems seem to have some good history, Petronix is ???
Then there is the tried and proven Ford DuraSpark or the later TFI systems.
I have had the COP system on my last Ford P/U and now on my new one with the V10 3 valve drive by wire engine - what a nightmare (and expensive to repair). If I could go to one coil or an off plug coil pack inexpensively, I'd be on my way for it now.
