Good choice. For years the 8" was overlooked for rodding use. It will do u fine.

BTW: The 8.8 would have been a good choice too. Parts are easy to get (Not that I've needed any). It has good strength for any type small block application. (Big block too if the car is light and tires 10" or less in width.)

They are routinely used on Big-Block Cobra kit cars and 4WD truck conversions.

They are the perfect width for any early Ford based vehicle project. The 5.0 Mustangs had posi too. The axles can just be redrilled for cheap and the correct brake drums for the mustang brakes are $35 ea. from NAPA.


The extra $350 comes in when u want 31 spline axles.....(They r so large that the seal drags on the axle shaft all the way in...lol) If you worry about case strength, they make a girdle for it...
