    Stock Ford 302 Carb Leak?

Hi, im helping my friend work on his '71 mustang. Everytime we start it the carb leaks gas. yesterday after running for around 3 minutes the whole back of the manifold was filled with gas. we replaced the diaphragm but that didnt help. the engine is a stock 302 with stock two barrell carb. hes got a 675 cfm holley carb but he doesnt want to put it on along with the torker manifold before he does the rest of the motor. Is there any way to stop the leak of would it be better to just change the carb. Thanks,Mike

You have a float or needle and seat problem. That motorcraft carburetor is about as simple as they get. Tear it down, get a kit and a new float. East rebuild.

yup, very common on the old motorcraft/fomoco carbs.... they're not really the best choice on carb there, they tend to have a lot of issues.... a lot of people switched to aftermarket carbs when they bought the cars just because of the problems
just because your car is faster, doesn't mean i cant outdrive you... give me a curvy mountain road and i'll beat you any day
