Got a question for SB Ford (302 pre-roller lifter) builders in the know. Does the oil supply to the hydraulic lifters go through the cam bearings first on it's way to the lifters? Especially concerned about the rear portion. Thanks IA.

Okay Denny, all I see is a frowny face, what am I missing? My screen or site?
Very strange, earlier today Denny posted one of those neat diagrams he always comes up with, showing the oil flow path. Wonder where it went?
Don
yup, there was a really nice pic there earlier.....
Bob: If it helps any, I think he said it was a split system, with oil going to both independantly.
By the way, the PM you sent me about your brake setup went to my work and I was off that day, so it got deleted. If it is convenient, please resent the info to donshotrod@hotmail.com.
Thanks,
Don
Hmmmmm, resent it to you with a pic to that hotmail address as an email, not PM, last thursday, and didn't get a "can not deliver" message.? Just sent it again as a forward of the one sent thursday. Let me know if you don't get it. Have you looked in your spam or junk email folder, since it has a photo in it it might screen it depending on how you've got your mail box set up?
Yep, that was it. I changed it so you are now on my safe list and can send me email/
Sorry. Hope you get that diagram again from Denny. His computer must have done something goofy.
Don
No............he just likes you better.:CRY:Quote:

Looks like it it comes "straight" for the pump via the filter system.

Just yesterday I had a customer in my office and he noticed my rod picture on my shelf, so we started talking about cars. He is a drag racer, runs a Honda, turns in the low 9.s. I asked if supercharged, he said no, nitros. Runs 14.5 compression, lots of parts made of steels he has never heard of, and still breaks axles and transmissions regularly.
I said "man, that's one fast ricer," which caused him to look at me not so nicely, but I meant it as a compliment. So, I guess "ricer" is not a nice thing to say to a Honda owner???

i just cant see where kids my age think its cool to do a burnout and have the front tire(s) smoking, i picked up a rice magazine at walmart the other day and it had a 4page article on how to do a burnout in a rear-wheel drive car!!! the first line was "doing a burnout in a rearwheel drive car is a bit more tricky than in a front wheel drive car, because you cant just put the e brake on and hit the gas" i was apalled. there was a kid at my school who had some honda with a dumb body kit that hit every speedbump in town, he was telling me how he knows so much about cars because he worked at a rice shop tinting windows, i asked him if he knew what a camshaft was and he told me "im not a motor guy, im a body kit guy" what a moron, i am greatly saddened that this is gonna be the next generation of automotive enthusiast's my generation has the most terrible taste. the first day i drove my galaxie to school someone told me "that thing sounds like its about to break down" and the kid that told me that is into cars, i was like it has a big cam moron. then hes tries to tell me how to get more power out of it, what does he know about power when he cant tell if it has a big cam?
How can it take 4 pages to say; "Dump the clutch and smash the gas."?:rolleyes:Quote:

rice boys are so funny, they invest $5000 into their car to add 200lbs of body kit which also adds a bunch of wind resistance(specially the ones that flap when they're going fast because they dont even know how to secure them properly), a big spoiler that adds uneaded down force, an exhaust system that isn't even needed unless they had a big deisel, and a bunch of useless parts that get their car to peak at about 220 hp..... which i can build an engine for $5000 that will make my car, that looks cool stock, run with about 400hp.... it just really doesn't make since to me... and dont even get me started on the "bling"
Well lets see hear,302 H.O.,427 side oiler,428 scj,429scj,the 460,then we have the boss motors.......... What were the factory chevy motors,327 hipo,427 hipo and........
Gee, looking at it that way it looks like; keep trying to get it right over and over vs getting it right the first time, every time......................
Then we got the tunnel port the flathead......Cammer then we got the,we need a good list of the factory power houses, chevy and ford.**) I know the 427 vette motors were the hot ticket.
How in the world do you expect them to get enough down force on the rear wheels so they get maximum traction if they do not have the big spoiler?? Oh wait they have front wheel drive don't they. :rolleyes:Quote:

Thanks

im just partial to ford FE i have no interest in any other ford motor, i would rather have a chevy, i cant stand 5.0's i went to fun ford weekend one day, we brought a 1967 Fairlane with a 406 tri power motor swapped in. every other car at the drag strip that day was a 5.0 fox body mustang, literally, there were a few other cars, i think there was a 69 mach 1 and a 64 fairlane with a 351 but other than that, out of some 500 cars that were there they were mostly 5.0 fox bodies, i understand why people build them, they are cheap, they go fast, and parts are cheap and plentiful. im just sick of seeing them everywhere. all the kids at my highschool love fox bodies, i also think they are great cars and have respect for them, but everyone has one, this explains my love of the FE, its just diffrent, everyone at the drag strip and carshows around here has either a small block ford or chevy. i just like to be diffrent.....i should have been born 35 years earlier haha
Yeah................then you could be part of the crowd that whines about the popularity of the ubiquitous small block Chev!:LOL:Quote:

Shawnlee28,you forgot about the LS6 in a Chevelle and the GNX Regal both of which where faster in the 1/4 mile than any Ford.Quote:

The big difference was you could get the LS6 Chevelle or the GNX Regal very easily and for the AC Cobra you would have to wait a long time.
Some of the engines you talk about are not very common.
Are you still laughing now ?? And are you still confused ??
While I don't necessarily disagree with your comments about those two GM car, you must not have been around in real time for the Cobra. There wasn't much of a wait at all, at least in the major markets. In fact, I remember seeing new 427 Cobras on dealer show room floors a full year after production stopped. It actually took a few years before the "mania" took hold.Quote:

Something that ran mid to high 12's right off the showroom floor on skinny bias ply tires definitely got my attention and respect. :) :) :D
Small town cop in an adjoining town to ours had a Dodge with a big Hurst 4 speed shifter poking out of the floor. The Sheriffs in some of those small towns were able to convince the city fathers they needed high performance pursuit cars. He would never tell us what was under the hood, but we sort of knew it was a 426 max-wedge.
One night I am racing another GTO in my tripower '66, and as we leave the line on the 4 lane we see this cop in his Dodge coming the other way. He hits the lights and I take off. I am running flat out, not one more mph left in the Goat, and the speedo is pegged below the 120 mark, so I am doing about 130. My buddy in the passenger seat tells me I better get moving because the cop is gaining on me. All I could do was watch his headlights getting closer to me as I was trying to escape. Finally, I saw a two lane road turn off of the 4 lane and flipped onto it. I finally was able to get away, but only because the GTO cornered better that that big Dodge. If I had stayed on the 4 lane he would have gotten up to me for sure. I still have a whole lot of respect for Mopars.

I remember one night in '65 at Carlsbad, Jack Christman brought out the first Comet Cyclone that I had seen. He made a believer out of a lot of folks that night. :) :) :D
Sounds like you guys need to borrow this;
