cam selection
ok so i'm building a non race season engine for my mustang right now, cause the motor i've got is too much strip not enough street.... my new build so far is a forged steel standard bottom end including crank, rods, pistons, double roller timing chain, ported polished 1969 302 HO 60cc chamber large valve heads, roller rockers, air gap intake, eddy 600 cfm carb, holley electric fuel pump, 2 1/4" exhaust, and dougs headers 1" tube tuned 3" collectors
i need something that'll still keep me ahead at everyone else but not something too wickidjust because your car is faster, doesn't mean i cant outdrive you... give me a curvy mountain road and i'll beat you any day

Talk to the cam mfr's. There are just about any selection of street cam you can imagine available now.As a matter of fact, that is about 90% of their business and they will have it because thats what they survive on.With those heads you may get a lower duration,low/even -neg overlap cam recommended for street. As far as street performance, listen to the mfr.'s,things are a changin due to technology.Edit,,,I would suggest changing the heads also while it is a 'street' vehicle, they may also.Just my 2cts.worth.Last edited by shevy not heme; 07-05-2006 at 06:00 PM.

look for something in the 264 range, about 480 lift. Comp Cams Tech has the low down on them, great cams. If my filing system wasn't so neglected I could give you the part number!!!!!!!Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, Live for Today!

sounds good to me..... i cant wait to be able to cruise the streets when race season is over.... right now shes too lopey for the street.... but i pulled a 6.22 on the 1/8 last friday :-Djust because your car is faster, doesn't mean i cant outdrive you... give me a curvy mountain road and i'll beat you any day
Welcome to CHR. I think that you need to hook up your vacuum advance. At part throttle when cruising you have less air and fuel in each cylinder, and the air-fuel mixture is not as densely packed...
