    interchange

anyone know if anything from a 351C will swap onto a 302..... as well as if anything from a 71 mach1, steering, suspension, rearend... will bolt on to my 66 fastback.... my friend just totalled his mach1 and hes gonna part it out... said he would sell me the whole car for $800.... if anything it has a 351c and a c6 that both have about 2000 miles on them

The transmission will bolt up to a 302 as it it shares the same bolt pattern, but I don't know if you will be able to "drop" it into your fastback. Engine parts will not interchange. The rear axle is probably a 9", not sure if it will bolt up. For $800, I would get it and I bet you could part out the rest on ebay and make all your money back and then some I would be interested in the engine and tranny, but I have not a clue how I would get it up to Idaho.

good point.... i wish i could find a list of rearend lengths to find out if the mach1s 9" can replace the 7.5 in my 66... i'm pretty sure at least the front suspension does change over, which would mean i can take his willwoods and coil overs and put them on my car

I wish I lived closer, I would probably get the engine and tranny, as it would drop right in to my '53.

I swapped everything (engine , trans, rear axle) from a '70 Mach 1 with 351 into my ex-wifes '68 Mustang coupe. Bolted right in, but I don't know if the '66 has room between the towers. Up until that point I was not really a Ford guy, but that 351 changed my mind.

At $ 800 you have nothing to lose.

You'l have problems with the C-6 and the tranny tunnel and possibly with the mount.

Yeah, and I don't think the front suspension is anywhere near the same.
They widened the Mustang in '67, and the '71's were even wider.

But the parts are for sure good Ebay stuff, and you can keep what you can use.

I have what is left of a '66 Mustang in the back yard that at one time had a 390 in it. The shock towers are a mess, the upper A-arms had long bolts in them and the tunnel was massaged just a bit.

The body is pretty good from the cowl back, but there are a lot of miles between you and me.
