Is the oil filter geting oil to it?I know you said it comes out of the lines(at the block assuming) not that the lines to the remote filter aren't kinked, blocked or pinched. And are you priming it at the oil pump shaft with the distributer removed by hand or cranking the engine over? I came across a few stubborn ones that were air bound. Priming the oil filter and priming oil pump by hand resolved the problem eventually.
Think about it, the system is pretty simple just double check it. The cam drives the distributer, distributer drives the pump shaft(make sure its there and in the pump and dist. correctly), the pump shaft drives the oil pump. Oil is picked up from the oil pan through the oil sump(not that the tube is cracked or not tight and sucking air), then through the oil pump, then to the oil filter and so on and so on.
Also I think there may be galley plugs in the back of the block behind the flywheel. I'm sure that's probably just what you wanted to hear.
Good Luck
