    motor for 39 merc

maybe some of you car buffs can tell me what i can use for an engine in my 39 merc. she use to have a 95 hp ford engine but doesen't have any now. What engines can i replace it with without changing rear end, clutch, wiring and so for. I will if i have to but would rather not. thank you gary jay

Any Mercury, Ford or Ford truck flathead engine from 39 to 53 will bolt in. On the 49 to 53 motors you will need to change the water pumps to bolt it in. 49 to 53 Fords and 51 to 53 Mercs used a different bellhousing that can be changed.Pre 39 engines will also fit but are not as tough as the later ones.
