i have a merc. 410 engine,, if i bore & install new pistons do i need to rebalance? So basically what im doing is putting the lower end of the 410 in my .060 390 block i have, and adding C6AE-R heads

If your new pistons, pins and rings don't weigh EXACTLY as much as the originals, you would be much better off rebalancing.

Henry's advise is right on. A few hundred to balance the rotating assy is well worth the effort. Those 410 merc engines are hard to come by and it would be a shame if it gets damaged. I'd say without balancing the engine's life could be short lived. JMO,G.
