    where are the casting numbers on a 352/360/or 390

     



    I was given an engine an was told it was a 390 but I cannot find
    any proof of that except for the stroke length please help

    The block casting number is on the left side of the block and should start with a CXXX number ex C2=62, C3=63 etc... depending on the year the date code will be below the oil filter adapter close to the skirt. Early blocks have the date code on the side of the block not by the skirt as later blocks. ALSO ford did use the same casting number for some 352/390/428 blocks so internal component id is key. check out www.428cobrajet.org click on component id this will show you number locations on the 68-70 cj/scj engines. This should give you a good idea where to look to find the numbers your looking for. Get the numbers and post them and we'll see what you have. G.

    Forgot to add check the FE block ID post below. Viking posted a "how to" and list of all casting numbers. Great info for quick id. G.
