    Angry starter problem

     



    I HAVE BEEN GOING THRU STARTERS ON MY 69 390 ITS HOOKED UP TO A TOPLOADER 4 SPD IT SEEMS THE STARTER IS AT AN ANGLE. I HAVE BEEN TOLD IT NEEDS TO BE SHIMMED. JUST WONDERING IF ANYBODY ELSE HAS HAD THIS PROBLEM Any help would be appreciated thanks Bob

    yeah i had that problem with a 302 of mine, just shim the starter with a washer or however many it takes to keep it from knocking, when its not in there straight it gets rubber by the flywheel a little bit, you would probably notice that the edges on your flywheel teeth will now be a little shaved and nice and shiny... somethin you will wanna fix before you hafta get a new flywheel along with that starter
