Yepper-it was good training without the training wheels.Gas was high test for 29.9.Car got 8 miles to the gallon soft peddling it and 6 to 4 mpg getting on it.You could actually watch the gas gauge going down.We where told by NYS police it was clocked at 137 mph but they couldn't prove it because we lost them.If it was the time I think it was,it still had 500rpm left before 7,000.Surly would bury the speedo that went to 120.
    Good Bye

Neat car. It will be really nice when you get it all done. I've got a soft spot for the 64s too, I have an on again/off again 64 Custom project I occasionally get out and make noise with It's a not very stock 401 (352 +.110 over bore and 390 crank and rods) Tri-power/C6.

Anyway a couple things I thought I'd throw out for you. As far as I know 63 was the last year for the factory installed Tri-power setups although they could be bought over the parts counter for several years after that.

As far as the correct filter I think you will find that the one that would have been installed in 64 would have been a paper filter that fit inside the canister attached to the bottom of the fuel pump. Any good parts store should be able to still get the filters and they are only a few bucks. If you have a late model pump with out the filter assembly you can still get a correct replacement pump from rock auto for aobut $25.

As far as the fuel line, if you have a picture that's simple to make with a legnth of 3/8th fuel line and a good bender and double flare tool.

Anyway welcome to the club and congratulations on getting your car.

I've NEVER seen a car come from the factory that couldn't be improved.....

Also don't forget that Ford made FE marine, industrial, & truck engines.

i learned a valuable lesson, do not throw away your old car parts like REGULATORS, even though they are bent and froze up. i removed all the regulators found drivers was all blown out junk. so i figure i will ebay a new one HAHA good luck no one has one new or used.
i got a container with some extra parts with car, earlier in the week i tossed a old bent up frozen drivers regulator, so i had to go trash digging was able to build a cherry out of the two. don't toss that old stuff.

yeah...driver's door gets used the most - always first to fail. Great car you have. I'm an FE fan from long ago - I ran a 390/401hp in a 46 Merc coupe many years ago. It was a screamer with 3.90s in a 57 SW rear end. I currently have one of Shelby's finest, had it for years and I still wring it out once in awhile.

Keep having fun with that car - your engine is just about bulletproof.

yes, i am FE fan myself now. the old Galaxie was such a great find this is my first ford i like how simple the car is to work on with one exception, wing windows, seals are a major job. so i was on a mission to find a 1968 nova SS, big block, 4spd, 12 bolt car when i found this Galaxie. i love this Galaxie she is a keeper for sure. i do like old nova's i think the Galaxie is more rare !!!! don't worry i will always be a chevy guy.....
