The 400/429/460 C 6's don't fit. Has to for FE
Thank you, I have used two 390 holleys before and they worked fine. I will search for that manifold since the holleys give me the period look i want.
Back too the 390 dual quad. post, is anyone familiar with an edelbrock manifold number f 262. thanks
It's all good Tango I was just ribbin ya a bit. :3dSMILE: And I know your sorta a Ford guy too. ;) I wish we could meet up for some fun at the track..... perhaps someday. That would be a hoot. That Monte is gonna be a quick one for sure. **)
AF/X the F-262 is a early 60's design and a pretty good one that I've heard. I've never run one so can't say for sure. Jerry or hotroddude might have some better feedback for ya there. The C3 lowriser Denny posted is always a nice option and fairly easy and inexpensive to find. I know a few guys who have both LR and MR intakes and can get some prices if you like.
Yes that would be great. do both these styles only accept afb type carbs? Also, being an early 60's manifold, was this consider a period correct performance upgrade for the FE. I just don't remember seeing alot of dual quad fords running carter type carbs.
tango when i'm ready i will let you know. i need to find a good cheevy body first. i'm looking at a vega wagon right now but would prefer a camero.i'll keep in touch.
altered af/x ; The weiand and the offy both accept holleys all the ford manifolds accept holleys, they also(ford) made a tunnel port type manifold where the runners went from round to the shape of the port of the regular fe heads. if your going to goshow with the smaller holleys then the low or med. rise is for you.my casting numbers notes are in my shed until i find them that is as much help as i can give you right now. both the weiand and offy are 360 intakes which is that the right side of the carbs feel the right side of the engine the left the left. there are no crising and crossing of the intake runners.
HRD that intake was the 2x4 tunnelwedge your thinking of.
AF/X the most common Ford 2x4 intakes.....
Lowriser 2X4, C3AE-9425-H, C3AE-9425-J, C3AE-9425-K and C5AE-9435-E.
Mediumriser 2X4, C5AE-9425-K, C7ZX-9425-A which was used on the 67 GT500's, SFMS-9425-A Shelby over the counter and some Holman Moody versions as well. There are also some with just the FoMoCo logo a date code and no casting number.
There might be a few more I'll look as this is off the top of my head. I emailed my buddy and will send you a PM when he gets back to me.
So all these manifolds accept the holley carbs correct.? do all the aftermarket manifolds take carter type?and all the numbers you gave fit 390 stock heads?a guy on ebay has the 60s edelbrock going around $200 but i would like the holley carb option for my motor. thanks for all the help as this is my first ford project.
I'm out on the road for a week with my wife on a little vacation---see this has turned into a editing war???????? Have fun
Yes all the factory intakes use Holleys. I'm fairly certain the F-262 does as well but never having one I'm not 100% postive. I would ask the seller on ebay too. What year is your 390 and what heads are on it? The heads casting numbers are between the center 2 sparkplugs.
Edit to add I just notced the engine is out of a 76. So it might have the D2TE-6090-AA heads?
the pass. side head reads D 2 TE AA, the drivers side reads C- 8 AE-H, Hope this isn't what it seems. Please let me know.
