The 63.5-65 427 topoilers made 410hp with a 4v and 425hp with a 8v. Tq was 476 (4v) and 480 (8v). For that kind of cash you can build a brand new Genesis or Pond 427 stroker engine. If he's not sure of what he has be careful. He might have been burned on it and is trying to pass it on as something it's not. If seeing the car in person is not an option you can always have someone knowledgeable look at and inspect the car. I wouldn't spend that kind of money without a good set of eyes looking at the car. Dave makes some very good points about the clones. Unless you use every Shelby part there is they just don't look right. I've seen guys do a knockout job on the exterior and leave a plain jane Mustang interior. Just looks funny to me.
