460 ford running hot
Hi Im back with a related issue wondering if a flex fan could be the cause of my engine running hot? after approximatley 25 or 30 minutes the stock guage in my truck shows it around the 212 mark .I put a sixteen Lb cap on the radiator so that is not spuing coolant out the overflow, new water pump, new hoses with one exception the bottom hose does not have a reinforcement coil of wire or spring in it.I was told to take the 5blade flex fan off and throw it away go back to the stock clutch fan ? also have a 4tube after market new radiator in it.Any help ?????: :

Thanks denny I have a stock clutch fan I will put on it and buy a new lower hose.See if that takes care of the issue.I never found out if I messed up by putting the 429 crank from a 70 into a 460 year73 seems to be running pretty good after the ARP locking nuts on the rockers.only Issue is the heat so I will try this thanks again

And to add to Denny's always good information, make sure that the thermostat is in correctly with the "pill" facing the engine. Sounds like it's a no-brainer but after many years of mechanical work, nothing surprises me. Also, 212 or thereabouts is not too high a temp with a 16 pound cap. With the rise in pressure, there is a corresponding rise in boiling temperature. A 15 pound cap will raise it by 45 degrees.
Denny, I like your 'new' AVATARDave
