    What's Compression

In a 390. I have 120psi on 6 and 110 on two of the cylinders. Seems low to me.

shoot a little oil in the low cylenders and see how much it pick them up. it should run ok like it is though.

i cant garauntee this to work but if you're just trying to prolong the engine before it needs a rebuild.... that restore formula that comes in the little tin can... i've used it a few times and its worked about 50% of the time, got compression back up a bit and killed the oil burning problems.... i dont know how long it lasts though..... i sold the cars after only putting a few thousand on it ofter that
just because your car is faster, doesn't mean i cant outdrive you... give me a curvy mountain road and i'll beat you any day

FE's don't usually wear the bores too bad. You can get by with rings in many cases. I guess it depends on how you plan to use it. The more performance you expect, the better it has to be. For stock output, on a daily driver that you want to run for a few years, rings and bearings and a valve job will smarten most 390's right up.

do a full build or leave it on the stand. Rings, bearings, ( pistons if the bores are too worn ) cam, lifters, chain, pump, at a minimum.

Education is expensive. Keep that in mind, and you'll never be terribly upset when a project goes awry.

We are pretty good at spending other guys money. So have that plastic ready to go!!!! If this car is a keeper you might as well start with a rebuild and add some nice performance parts. Do it once and do it right.

    Welcome to CHR.

LMAO@ the ready plastic. I figured the whole rebuild would be the way to go. And yes the cars a keeper.

Please no jokes about the color. I've been thru enough of that.
